Bio

“I became an attorney to help people fight big insurance. People who are injured at work find themselves up against a system where the insurance company has more experience, more power, and more money. CR Legal Team levels the playing field. When I help my clients with what they need to get their lives back to normal, I sleep better at night.”

Through her lifetime of compassion and advocacy in doing things to help others, Jacalyn Ackerman professionally became a Workers’ Compensation Attorney through her desire to represent and secure benefits for workers who have suffered an injury on the job, and she has now been with CR Legal Team since 2008.

Jacalyn grew up on a small horse farm in the Amish country of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and moved here to North Carolina almost immediately after graduating from college. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Pennsylvania State University and after years of working in administration, graphic design, non-profit management, and raising a family, she then attended and received her Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law.

In 1997, she co-founded the United States Equine Rescue League, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to save, protect, and rehabilitate equines in need. Jacalyn and her husband Mark have two grown sons, Reece and Calvin. She also enjoys nature photography, singing bass with the women’s barbershop chorus Triad A Cappella Connection, healthy cooking, home improvement projects, and reading. Her bar admissions and memberships include the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association – Workers’ Compensation Section, Guilford County Bar Association, Admission to U.S. District Court – Middle District of North Carolina, North Carolina Advocates for Justice – Workers’ Compensation Section, and Workers’ Injury Law and Advocacy Group.
