Truvada Injury Attorneys
Do You Have a Dangerous Drug Claim? We Can Help.
Over the past decade, people have taken Truvada and similar TDF drugs to prevent and treat HIV infections. This popular prescription medication can be taken by mouth once daily for those currently living with HIV infections and those with a high risk of getting HIV. Because of its effectiveness, the drug has received substantial praise and popularity, but that’s beginning to change now that patients and doctors are discovering some of the drug’s dangerous adverse side effects.
According to several mass torts against Gilead Sciences, Inc., the company responsible for selling Truvada, the company knew of Truvada’s dangerous side effects, yet failed to share their findings with doctors or the public. To make matters worse, the claims also suggest that Gilead was prepared to sell safer medications to replace Truvada but failed to do so in an effort to maximize profits for Truvada sales.
As a result, countless patients have suffered serious, life-altering injuries. If you suffered any serious side effects after taking Truvada, our firm wants to hear from you.

The Dangers of Truvada
Truvada first hit the market over a decade ago and was sold by Gilead Sciences, Inc. The medication contained two key drugs, emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF). Both of these drugs treat infections and are classified as nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs).
TDF medications, like Truvada, are the go-to drugs for the treatment of HIV infections because of their effectiveness and convenience. In fact, the drug earned the FDA’s stamp of approval when it was initially created, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has since recommended it as a viable HIV treatment method. However, recent claims accuse Truvada of causing serious health issues. To make matters worse, several lawsuits cite Gilead for negligence, claiming the company knew about the adverse health risks and hid them from the public to avoid losing profits.
Truvada may cause the following serious side effects:
- Bone loss
- Chronic kidney disease
- Immune reconstitution syndrome
- Kidney problems
- Lactic acidosis
- Liver issues
- Orthopedic injuries
- Osteopenia
- Osteoporosis
- Renal failure
Proving Liability After a Truvada Injury
If you were harmed by a dangerous TDF drug like Truvada, you have a right to pursue justice and compensation from the liable party. Drug manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies have a duty to their consumers, and if they do anything to endanger those taking their medications, they could be held responsible for the resulting damage.
In the case of Gilead’s popular drug, Truvada, the company could be liable for failing to inform patients and doctors of the drug’s potentially dangerous side effects, especially those involving kidney problems and bone density issues. Some claims also accuse the company of failing to sell new, safer HIV drugs to maximize profits gained from those already on the market. The company pushed the sale of Truvada for as long as possible, despite the serious health risks.
