The race, affectionately called "Run The Jake", serves to honor the ultimate sacrifice paid by Jacob in June of 2010 while serving his country in Afghanistan. Proceeds from the event memorialize Jake by supporting the Patriot Military Family Foundation whose mission is to "honor our veterans for their service and commitment to our freedoms and to serve them and their families."
