It’s 11:30 am EST on Election Day 2020 in America, a day that some believe is one of the most important of our lifetime. It is an election where everything seems to be on the line – who we are as a nation, who we want to become, who we love, who we hate, who we fear, how we are viewed in the world, how we are viewed by God – everything. Voter turnout is at an all-time high with the entire election going the way of 2020 by leaving all of us wondering how things will turn out in the end.
Those who know how important this election is have left all the cards on the table and leave this day and this time in history with the knowledge that nothing more could have been done. As a diverse organization that celebrates what is unique and special about each individual, CR Legal Team has taken a stand against the hateful rhetoric of the past four years and embraces the possibility of a healthier, happier and brighter future for all. As an organization, that is where we find ourselves on this sunny Tuesday morning on the East Coast of the greatest nation in the world – hopeful. We have hope in the process, hope in the knowledge that all voices will be heard, hope in the future and hope in each other.
The truth is that CR Legal Team has spent the past 30 plus years fighting for, speaking out for and Standing Up For people during the times in their lives when they just cannot do those things for themselves. That desire to be there for others is woven into the fabric of who we are as people and who we are as an organization. This election is important, but however it turns out is not important enough to change who we are at our core.
Whatever happens today and in the coming days will not change who we are as a law firm, as a CR Legal Team Family, as a home to two Foundations that provide safety, wellness and scholarship programs for people of all ages and who we are as a force for good in this world. Our work and our fight will continue long past today, tomorrow, next week or next year. Our hope is that after today, you are left in a place where you will love harder, be kinder and fight harder to Stand Up for the people and the things that matter in your life.
