"It Can Wait" Pledge

Wednesday, September 19th, was “No Text on Board Pledge Day,” a national campaign through AT&T aimed at putting an end to texting while driving. There are more than 140 organizations, including the U.S. Department of Transportation (DoT) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) supporting the national movement. The “It Can Wait” movement focuses on educating the public (with an emphasis on teens) on the dangers of texting and driving.

The website ItCanwait.com offers children and adults alike the opportunity to “take the pledge to never text and drive.” The pledge signifies that no text message, email, website or video is worth the risk of endangering lives or worth dying for. The national movement urges drivers to share their pledge with others through Twitter (#ItCanWait) and Facebook.

ATT statistics show that those who send text messages while driving are 23 times more likely to be in a crash. To date, more than 500,000 pledges have been logged through the website, social media sites, and events. For more information, see ItCanWait.com.

To promote safe driving, CR Legal Team has just launched a safety billboard contest open to local North Carolina residents. Entrants are asked to design a billboard on the topic of safe driving, and upload it through the the Facebook widget located at www.facebook.com/crumleyroberts, or through Twitter with #crumleyroberts.
