GREENSBORO, N.C. – May 1, 2012 – Five high school seniors and five community college students transferring to four-year institutions have been recognized as the 2012 CR Legal Team Chairman’s and Next-Step Scholarship recipients, respectively. These 10 winners have demonstrated a deep passion for giving back to their local and/or global communities and will receive $1,000 towards their college tuition in addition to an Apple iPad.
With increasing hardships and economic difficulty in pursuing a college education, CR Legal Team looks to continually create ways to help students follow their educational goals and secure financial aid. To date, CR Legal Team has donated nearly $130,000 in scholarships and technology to college-bound students to support standing up for their futures.
The CR Legal Team Chairman’s Scholarship was offered to local North Carolina high school seniors who showcase an outstanding aptitude and passion for community service to their local or global communities. Applicants had to have above a 2.8 GPA and respond to an essay question on reducing distracted driving, which is currently a hot topic throughout the country. The Next-Step Scholarship recognizes North Carolina community college students, with a 2.5 GPA or better, who are transferring to an in-state four-year college or university in the fall to continue their education. Next-Step Scholarship entrants were judged on their community involvement and also on their written essay regarding their education and career goals.
“We received many submissions from community-minded, goal-oriented local students this year,” said Chris Roberts, CR Legal Team ’ president. “It was difficult to narrow down; however we feel that these students show extraordinary promise and CR Legal Team is happy to be a small part of investing in their future.”
