CR Legal Team was the sponsor for the High Point Regional Competition (held Saturday, February 4, 2012) at the High Point Courthouse. This regional competition was part of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice High School Mock Trial Competition. This is the 3rdyear we have been a sponsor of the Regional Competition. Sponsors of the state wide competition are the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and the Carolina Center for Civic Education.
The competition is open to all high schools, with teams coming from local schools and competing in their region. On 2/4, in addition to High Point, there were also regional competitions in Charlotte, Raleigh, Greenville, Hickory, and Wilmington. The top two competitors from each regional advanced to the State competition held in Raleigh in March. The winner of the state competition advances to the National Moot Court Championships held in May.
Local attorneys and judges participate as judges and scoring jurors at the regional competitions. In years past, including this year, those that have participated from CR Legal Team include Marcus Hayes, Jaci Ackerman and Kathleen DuBois.
